Lenovo REVIEW: Ideapad Y700

Lenovo Ideapad Y700 Review

Nowadays, gamers need a powerful rig for smooth gaming and intense graphics rendering. And among those powerful rigs that you need to look out for, you've got to check out the newly released Lenovo Ideapad Y700, a very powerful gaming laptop.

Powered by Intel Core i7 - 6700HQ @ 2.6GHz

This laptop has intense specifications that would make you go rampage while playing games. With an Intel Core i7 - 6700HQ @ 2.6GHz processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5, you'd be seeing the nerves of a dead zombie!

Let's explore more shall we?

Y700 got a brushed metal lid design. Fingerprints are easily stamped if the lid is touched but you can easily wipe it with a cloth. The 15-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD display is amazing! It makes the graphics come to life. The display lid can be adjusted up until a 120º angle. Don't adjust it over 120º cause you might break it. Tip: Adjusting the brightness makes the display better for your sight preference.

What shocked me with this laptop is its built-in speakers. Y700 has a JBL 2x2W Speakers with Chamber + 3.0 Subwoofer and Dolby Home Theater as its audio hardware. Loud and clear m'ayt! I feel fully immersed with the music and while in gaming too. (I tried watching Game of Thrones and I didn't need to wear headphones because the sound is all over my room.)

The Y700's keyboard has its catching feature of having a red LED Backlit. This is adjustable to 2 levels. You can switch it on and off or adjust it by clicking fn + spacebar. I like this feature so much because I really dig red and it brings out the gamer feeling.

Y700's webcam has a HD 720p running at 20-30fps.. tried it at night and the capture was still clear. Tada! (I'm not sick okay?
 Haha!)

The 4.1 x 2.7-inch Synaptics touchpad is enough to put 30 fingertips on it! Kidding aside, it is a vast piece that you could do different gestures for pointer recognition and commands. (Example is a shortcut to Cornata is to tap using three fingers on the touchpad.) The right and left button on the touchpad are a bit clicky and deep, but you'd get a hang of it eventually.

The ports on the left side of the laptop:

  • DC(Direct Current)-Power Jack
  • USB(Universal Serial Bus) port 2.0
  • Media Card Reader (SD, SDHC, MMC)
  • 2-in-1 Audio Combo Jack

The ports on the right side of the laptop:

  • Network Adapter
  • HDMI Port
  • 2 USB port 3.0

You might see that there's no built-in CD/DVD ROM, but Y700 got an External USB 2.0 DVD/BD Tray-in. It's portable, and this could be useful to other devices that don't have a tray-in. The portable Tray-in also has a brushed metal finish.

When I got my Y700, Windows 10 Home is already preinstalled. McAfee is also preinstalled for its antivirus program.

Y700 has a fast boot up system cause of the intense specifications, and one of this is the laptop's processor brought by Intel.

Y700 also got 1 TB of disk memory storage, this is a good thing cause I could install tons of games and store a lot of files!

Since this rig is a beast, I've expected that it is not lightweight. Y700 weighs around 2.5kg. This includes the battery weight because Y700's battery is built-in. The battery lasts long even in on a high brightness setting!

GAME TESTING...

I ran League of Legends on high and very high settings and it has a stable 60 FPS throughout the game test.

Overall, Lenovo's Ideapad Y700 really gives out strong performance for gaming, and this laptop comes in a fair price. You might want to get this baby and for PHP 69,995.00, everything is worth to feel the high power in gaming. Thank you to Lenovo Philippines and Intel for producing this powerful rig for gamers like me.

Till my next review!
